About The Edward Barnsley Educational Trust
The Edward Barnsley Educational Trust, established in 1980, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the craft of handmade furniture making. Operating from Edward Barnsley's historic Arts and Crafts workshop in rural Hampshire, the Trust offers training programs for aspiring furniture makers, including apprenticeships and fee-paying pupil opportunities.
Beyond woodworking courses, the Trust maintains an adjoining cottage that showcases Barnsley's furniture and houses an extensive archive of over 4,000 of his drawings, correspondence, and photographs. Funding for the Trust is primarily sourced from the sale of furniture, along with donations and grants from individuals, organisations, and the Friends of the Edward Barnsley Educational Trust.
