“Hopgarden” Dining Suite

This dining table and the 6 matching chairs are all made from Walnut. The table top is made using workshop sawn veneer from a Walnut tree, which grew in a West Sussex hop garden.  The suite was designed by James Ryan (b. 1972) and made in the Edward Barnsley Workshop in Hampshire.  James Ryan says, ‘This Walnut has a rich colour and the workshop sawn segmented veneer top gives the top a unique and attractive appearance.’  

The timber was sawn into boards in 2018 and carefully seasoned in the Barnsley Workshop’s drying sheds.  The backs of the chairs were designed to be very supportive.  Only by sitting in one of these chairs is it possible to appreciate how comfortable they are.  The chairs are upholstered in leather. The table is 150 cm long, 120cm wide and the height is 74 cm.
