Circular Table (1972)

This round walnut table, made in 1972, is one of Edward Barnsley’s most popular and successful designs. The centralised support offers a good stable base with a flowing and elegant form. It can be used as a hall table or a very flexible dining table. The unobtrusive understructure affords full use of the table perimeter for different seating arrangements. The table is in walnut with sycamore stringing. It measures 1.3m in diameter and was made in the workshop by Edward’s favourite craftsman, George Taylor.

The table recently came back to the Barnsley Workshop. We have given it a re-polish. It’s not brand new, but is in beautiful condition. The walnut has acquired a lovely patinated golden colour. I believe the contemporary description is “pre-loved”, having given good service to its previous owner for 50 years. It is now ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.
