The 'Wedge' desk was designed by James Ryan. It was made in the Barnsley Workshop by James assisted by Luke Rawlinson.

The top of the desk is made using magnificently figured burr oak. The black, open-grained finish of the under-structure is achieved by scrubbing the surface and applying an iron acetate solution that reacts with the natural tannins in the wood. This process draws out the beautiful grain pattern.

The underframe is held together without glue. Instead, angled wedges are used. They will self- tighten as the timber flexes over time, keeping the structure rigid.

The Barnsley Workshop stamp can be found underneath the desk.

The desk is the first in a limited edition of eight.

The desk is 143 cm wide, 64 cm deep and 76 cm high.
