Collector’s Cabinet

We first met the clients who commissioned these two cabinets when we exhibited at Olympia, London. On that occasion they bought work we were exhibiting on our exhibition stand. A few years later, after buying a few more ‘off-the-peg’ pieces from us, they felt ready to commission something new for their home in the US. The brief was for a piece of furniture to store and display a collection of early American banknotes. Designer James Ryan suggested shallow drawers that would hold the notes under glass. The glass is hinged so access is easy. The client liked the design and ordered two cabinets, which we made in American walnut and sycamore. When the cabinets arrived the client emailed, ‘To say I am delighted is an understatement. Your design eye is superb, and the craftsmanship is amazing. Please pass on my thanks to all involved in the whole process.’
