Visit to the Department for Education

We were very honoured to be invited to meet the Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities yesterday in London. Her office is furnished with a suite of furniture designed by Edward Barnsley and made in the workshop in 1960. It was made at the request of David Eccles who was the Minister for Education at the time for his Ministerial office. It was wonderful to see the suite of furniture in use especially given the fact it is over 50 years old.

All four of our apprentices were invited along as well as Stephen Rock the craftsman tutor and James Ryan the Designer and Manager. We also met Nick Boles Minister of State for Skills.

We were able to observe Nicky Morgan and Nick Boles taking Education questions in the House of Commons in the afternoon.

It was a very enjoyable day and gave a great insight into the efforts being put into increasing the number of apprenticeships.
